Hi Puran. Here’s what you have to do if you need to change your mobile number.

Step 1: Visit EPFO member portal and log in
Step 2: Under ”Manage” click on ”Contact Details”
Step 3: Tick the ”Change Mobile No.” checkbox and enter your new mobile number in the two empty fields
Step 4: Click on the ”Get Authorization PIN” button
Step 5: An OTP will be sent to the new number which must be entered in the space that is provided
      Step 6: Click ”Submit”

To correct your name, the following steps must be followed:

Step 1: Visit EPFO member portal and log in
Step 2: Under ”Manage” click on ”Modify Basic Details”
Step 3: On the right side enter the name that you want to update and click on ”Update” button on the left
Step 4: After clicking you’ll see the status as ”Pending approval by employer”
Step 5: Contact your employer to approve the changes
Step 6: Once the employer approves, it needs to be approved by EPFO; the status will now be ”Pending at field office”

Please note that the entire process will take some time.

        Hi Gajanan,

There are two ways you can handle this:

Option 1: in order to claim/withdraw the PF/Pension dues, you can submit the Non-Aadhaar-based PF claim form to PF office with necessary enclosures by taking employer attestation in the form.

Option 2: You need to update your latest mobile number for your Aadhaar Card. Once updated, you will be able to reset the password by uploading your Aadhaar details for your UAN through the employer.

Sir I have not given my old uan number to new company. Will they be able to create my new uan number. Is there any chance that they come to know about my old uan number?

        Hi Rohit,

On the basis of the Aadhaar number of the employee, EPFO portal will auto-populate the existing UANs.

Clarification needed on 3 points which are mentioned in your blog.

      1. You have claimed that by using UAN an employer cant access employees PF details such as previous PF account details, previous employer details etc. Is that 100% sure? Because I have seen in another blog one person reported that they actually can verify those details.

      2. New employer generating another UAN in case the employee didn’t mention his old UAN. It is not possible to create a duplicate UAN if one employee is already having one.

      3. Merging request for different PF accounts

Is the practice of auto transfer of previous PF account to the new PF account already in practice???

        Rishabh Ranjan

        Hi Amal,

An employer can view the employee’s service history which includes details, such as PF number, DOJ service, DOL service on the basis of the employee’s UAN
UAN is generated on the basis of the Aadhaar Number. Once UAN is linked to the Aadhaar Number the PF portal will not generate duplicate UAN for the same employee
Suggest you to initiate online transfer by logging in with your UAN.

      Dear Rishabh Ranjan Sir,
I have pf number (as mentioned in payslip) & ESIC details but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to activate my UAN. While I trying to active UAN it’s showing the error of Date of birth. In ESIC’s mentioned date of birth get that.
Also, this is quite old pf account so I don’t have to remember that mobile number & Aadhaar card was not in circulation.
Kindly look into this matter & do your best, please.

        Hi Shiv,

Employee details on the PF portal must match the Aadhaar information. To change your DOB details, log into the PF portal and under “Manage” click on “ Modify Basic Details.” Then enter the correct DOB (which must match your Aadhaar DOB) and click on “Update”. The request for change then goes for approval to your employer. You can contact and tell them about the same.

As for your mobile number, you can visit this page, enter the UAN, Captcha, and click on Forgot Password and follow the instructions. Here’s a detailed blog on how you can change your mobile number.

        Hi Jai,

Details on the PF portal must match details on your Aadhaar Card. Before you go on and make corrections on the PF portal, please ensure that your adhaar card has all the correct details.

        To make changes in Aadhaar:

You can update your Address online in Self Service Update Portal (SSUP). For other details updates such as Demographic details (Name, Address, DoB, Gender, Mobile Number, Email) as well as Biometrics (Finger Prints, Iris & Photograph) in Aadhaar you will have to visit Permanent Enrolment Center.

To correct your name on the PF portal, please follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Visit EPFO member portal and log in
Step 2: Under ”Manage” click on ”Modify Basic Details”
Step 3: On the right side enter the name that you want to update and click on ”Update” button on the left
Step 4: After clicking you’ll see the status as ”Pending approval by employer”
Step 5: Contact your employer to approve the changes

        Hi Shibhani,

The said updates, such as Name, Contact Number and Email id can be updated by an employee; for that you have to log into the PF portal with your UAN and password. As for the correction of name, Aadhaar card details are mandatory. In other words, the PF portal will cross check the details on the PF portal with the Aadhaar database. Once the check is complete and verified, it will accept any change in details and will notify the employer for their approval. After this is done, it will go to the EPFO for approval. As for the mail id and mobile number, a request for correction can be submitted on the EPFO portal after logging in with your UAN and password.

Hi, I have two uans both only having pan number and respective organisation name servise duration in them.
Actually I exited job in 2017. My last employer created iam and all pf Amount transferred in may 2015. However the previous employer also issued uan very late and that uan record shows claim transferred etc. Both uans I can access . One that’s does not have amount has 5+ years service history. The one last employers alloted uan where cumulative amount present has 3 years service. Now if I withdraw epf will only 3 years considered as service duration?
How can I merge only servise history as anyway no amount in one of the uan.
      Pls guide.
I am affraid of TDS if withdraw epf.
Also worried of eps calculation, using service history..
All that I need is adding previous service history from other uan to last employers alloted uan where amount present.
      Pls advisw

        Hi Ashaa,

You need to transfer the PF accumulations from the old UAN to the latest UAN which has 3 years of contributions. Once the transfer is initiated, you can apply for an online claim

TDS will not get deducted for employees having more than 5 years of contribution.
